How to Join Council 11670 at St. Joseph’s Parish Directly

Application blanks are available from any member of the Knights of Columbus. Please contact our Grand Knight if would like to join our order or transfer to our council directly.

Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practicing Catholic men in union with the Holy See, who are at least 18 years old. A practicing Catholic is one who lives up to the Commandments of God and the precepts of the Church.

There is an exemplification ceremony for new members through which the status of First Degree Knights is attained. Other Degree ceremonies will follow towards the final Fourth Degree.

The First Degree Team Captain is Br. Val Dumais whose members are from both the St. Joseph’s and St. Paul the Apostle Councils. They have developed a schedule for First Degree ceremonies for the last Tuesday of each month.

 Recruitment for Council 11670

Recruitment of new members is a necessity to maintain the viability of any organization. In 2016-2017 the KofC of Ontario actually recruited more members than were lost due to death or from other causes.

Our recruitment process is actively encouraging every Knight to invite new members to join. Once a person is so identified a form (form 100) is completed with relevant information gathered for ongoing statistical and communication reasons.

New recruits to the Knights will be installed as a 1st Degree member to then pass to the 2nd and 3rd Degrees at their own pace.  Having attained the 3rd Degree he becomes eligible to be elected as an Executive of the Council.

Each Degree level is achieved through an installation conducted by a designated “Degree Team”. Normally a 1st Degree is held once a month between our Council and others in the Kingston area. Degrees for the 2nd and 3rd levels are less frequent and not organized by our Council.

The final level of membership is the 4th Degree of Sir Knights. Although Sir Knights remain within their respective Council and are recognized as Brother Knights they are also members of an Assembly such as @

Council 11670 is one of three other area Councils that combine to form District 20. These Districts are then combined into the Archdiocesan Association of Kingston.
